Today’s featured book is True Shot by Joyce Lamb.
Why I chose this book:
For lack of a better phrase, this is part of the True Series (True Shot, True Colors, True Vision). Romantic suspense. Sexy female superwoman spy (who happens to have an uncanny ability to read minds). Obviously, the trick is to stay alive. On the run from the FBI. For those who can handle blood, but not love, here’s your shut your eyes alert: there are love scenes (as one would expect in romantic suspense). Shouldn’t keep you from reading, but if you’re not a manly man, you can always read this one in private. You’ll like this woman.
Special FBI operative Samantha Trudeau’s unique psychic abilities help her catch the most elusive criminals. They also put her in the path of a sadistic adversary when she discovers she’s actually working for a rogue cell-and into the confidence of a handsome journalist with his own potentially dangerous secrets.
“Super-spy Samantha Trudeau is on the run from the FBI. With law enforcement decidedly not on her side, she has no choice but to rely on sexy but otherwise ordinary civilian Mac Hunter to help her stay alive. It’s a bit of a challenge, since she can’t even convince him that she can read minds. Mac thinks Sam should seek refuge with her sisters, even though they can’t possibly protect her from the armed thugs that Sam’s ex-boss keeps sending after her. Sam is a Wonder Woman who still needs help; Mac’s stubbornness becomes endearing in the light of his steadfast belief that family ties trump all troubles. The love scenes are tender even as the external pressures ratchet up. First-time readers will love the unusual treatment of a superpowered heroine, while fans of True Colors and True Vision will find this a very satisfying conclusion to the Trudeau saga.” – Publishers Weekly (starred review)
