Killer Nashville’s Book of the Day / Tuesday, May 1, 2012 / “Getting Lucky” by D.C. Brod

Today’s featured book is Getting Lucky by D.C. Brod.

Why I chose this book:

A reporter takes over a story after another reporter is killed in a hit–and–run. (Those hit–and–runs in fiction are never as accidental as they appear, are they?) For those who like personal drama mixed in with their crime solving, this is a good read.

When a young reporter is killed in a hit and run accident, freelance writer Robyn Guthrie agrees to finish one of the stories the reporter had been writing for the local newspaper. But nothing is as simple as it seems when she finds out about shady land deals, an old high school nemesis, and Robyn’s aging mother.

“Surprisingly intense characterization propels Brod’s likable sequel to Getting Sassy.” –Publishers Weekly, (Starred Review)
